The Takeover Challenge
16th Mar 2016
Students at Sandwell Community School today met with youth services staff to plan for the Takeover Challenge whereby students from West Bromwich and Tipton Campus grill the Chief Constable at West Bromwich Police about services for young people in the authority. Students will have the opportunity to tour the station and question police about crime, safety and policing from a child's perspective - potentially influencing policing in the authority.
This initiative is a part of the Sandwell's SHAPE program which seeks to create opportunities where the voice of the child can be heard on aspects including staying safe, having a healthy lifestyle as well as education and employment. Stephen, Aaron, Kasper and Liam will join other young people at West Bromwich Police Station to meet with Police Chiefs and Sergeants to discuss issues affecting young people in Sandwell. The programme is supported by staff from SCS as well as Neesha Patel, Abdul Kular and Ayisha from youth services.
